MIAMI (AP) — A Miami federal judge will try a second time to sentence an
American who returned from Cuba decades after hijacking a jetliner to
the communist island.

William Potts Jr. was supposed be sentenced last week for the 1984
hijacking of the jet on its way from New York to Miami, but a
last-minute snag emerged over classified documents. Another hearing is
set Thursday.

Potts wants credit for the 15 years he has already served in a Cuban
prison. The 57-year-old Potts said he returned last year to the U.S. to
finally resolve his case.

The FBI says the New Jersey native identified himself at the time as a
black militant and claimed in a note to a flight attendant that he
planned to blow up the flight.
